Regular City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter – CLERICAL CORRECTION 

June 3, 2024 6:00 p.m. 

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Donald Verschelde. 

 

Council members present were Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Pat Vlaminck, Craig Peterson, and Judy Verschelde.   

 

Also present was Jason Weber, Jason Overby (Lincoln/Pipestone Rural Water), and Zac Bubany, Jordan Odegard, and Mark Klema (Bollig), Ken Hennen, Dan Anderson, and Nancy Bormann. 

 

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the April 9, 2024 & May 6, 2024, Regular City Council meeting.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Craig Peterson. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

Review with Jason Overby the changes with Lincoln Pipestone Rural Water and the water pressure agreement.  A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to approve the water pressure agreement with Lincoln Pipestone Rural Water.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

Ken inquired about mowing and spraying at the lagoon.  Ken will connect with Pat regarding the areas that need gravel in town. 

 

Bollig provided the city with an update on the water/sewer lines.  June 24th that will be doing one more attempt to gather the remaining information needed – there about 15 water meters that are still unknown within the city.  Judy will send out a reminder with the next billing.  They also provided a funding update and gave an overview of the process.  Zac will send out future updates via a newsletter. 

 

A motion was made by Craig Peterson, seconded by Josh Sumption to approve the 2023 Financial Report from Nancy Bormann.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

 

A motion was made by Craig Peterson, seconded by Josh Sumption to make the account correction that was identified during the 2023 audit.  The correction identified was that the account at First Security Bank should be the general account, not the fire equipment account.  All were in favor of the correction with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

As of July 1st Lincoln Pipestone water will increase by $0.25/1000 gallons. 

 

407,000 gallons of water was used. 

 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded Craig Peterson, to pay the bills as read.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

 

A motion was made by Craig Peterson, seconded by Pat Vlaminck, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
