Public Hearing - City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter 

August 2, 2021, 6:30 p.m. 

 

Public Hearing regarding the adoption of a new Flood Plain Ordinance was called to order by Mayor, Donald Verschelde  

 

Council members present were Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Craig Petersen, Pat Vlaminck, and Judy Verschelde.   

 

No public was present. 

 

Ordinance 08-2021 

An Ordinance Relation the Regulations of the Floodplain for the City of Porter. 

Creating an updated ordinance to the city code. 

 

This ordinance adopts the floodplain ordinance by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.  This ordinance provides the general regulations for development in areas located in the floodplain, addresses conflicts with any other city ordinances, outlines permitted uses, provides provisions for any variances, regulates non-conformities, and outlines penalties for violations. 

 

Map Amendments Require Ordinance Amendments.  The floodplain district regulations must be amended to incorporate any revisions by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to the floodplain maps adopted in this ordinance. 

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication, as required by law and/or charter. 

 

Adopted by the City of Porter on August 2, 2021, in a motion by Craig Petersen and seconded by Josh Sumption.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the ordinance was adopted. 

 

A motion was made at 7:00 pm by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Craig Petersen, to adjourn the public hearing.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
