Regular City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter 

September 7, 2021 6:30 p.m. 

 

Meeting called to order by Mayor, Donald Verschelde  

 

Council members present were, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Craig Petersen, Pat Vlaminck, and Judy Verschelde.   

 

Also present was Linda Hennen. 

 

Proposed Resolution 09.07.2021 

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Porter, in the County of Yellow Medicine and the state of Minnesota that the following sums of money are proposed to be levied for the current year collectible in 2022 upon taxable property within the City: 

Proposed Levy:      $73,791.00 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Craig Petersen, to approve Proposed Resolution 09.07.2021.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the resolution was passed.

Tree dump needs to be pushed up and mowed.  Dennis DeVos inquired about a cottonwood tree on a city street that is in bad shape.  Craig will get a quote for removal. 

​

Craig placed granite fines by Kris Melby’s.  The cost was approximately $250.00 for 9.5 tons.  He is also looking at cement between parking lot and a cement pad for the recycling container to be placed on.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Josh Sumption for the city to advertise for bids for removal of the concession stand, concrete under it, and the surrounding sidewalks (except the one to the south).  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

​

Attorney Boulton is still researching and working on the transfer of property to Ethan & McKenzie Kack.  

 

Pat Vlaminck started the pump at the pump house & water gushed out of the ground.  This has been brought to the attention of Jeremy Stoks & Larry Stoks.

 

Sanford Health has notified the city that they are terminating the biometric agreement that covers the defib maintenance.  

 

The city acknowledged a donation from Olson Sanitation for the Porter Harvest Festival.  

​

City wide clean-up is set for September 27, 2021. 

 

The city received a donation in memory of Bill Ningen for the Porter Fire Department & First Responders. 

 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Josh Sumption to forgive and close the deferred loan agreement for Lots 6-8 and north half of Lot 9.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

425,000 gallons of water were used 

 

Josh Sumption made a motion to pay the bills as read.  Craig Petersen seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Craig Petersen, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
