Regular City Council Meeting Minutes

City of Porter

Monday, January 3, 2011, 6:30 p.m.

 Pat Vlaminck called the regular city council meeting to order.

 

Council members present were Kim Jelen, Darlene Moeller, Donald Verschelde, Judy Verschelde, and Pat Vlaminck.

 

Also present were Larry Stoks and Mike Antony.

 

The following elected officials took their oath of office:  Mayor Donald Verschelde, Treasurer Judy Verschelde, and Council Members Kim Jelen and Darlene Moeller.

 

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the December 6, 2010 Regular City Council meeting.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Darlene Moeller. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Darlene Moeller, to designate The State Bank of Taunton, Wells Fargo, and First Independent Bank as the official depositors, Canby News as the official newspaper, Kim Jelen as the proxy for mayor, Gerald Boulton as the attorney for the City, and Canby as the official pound. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

A motion was made by Darlene Moeller, seconded by Kim Jelen to donate $5000 to the Firemanís Relief Association retirement fund.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

Mike Antony inquired if the old sales barn lot is owned by Waldo Petersen, and if the adjacent street is a city street, or is part of the property.

 

The 2011 Fire Contract meeting is scheduled for February 7th at 7:30 pm following the regular Porter City Council Meeting.

 

Larry Stoks reported on the Water and Sewer Department.  408,000 gallons of water were used in December.  Larry also reported that the city will not be required to do additional tests on each water sample as was discussed at the December meeting.

 

Pat Vlaminck made a motion to pay the bills as read by Judy Verschelde.  Kim Jelen seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

A motion was made by Darlene Moeller, seconded by Pat Vlaminck, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
