Regular City Council Meeting Minutes

City of Porter

Monday, November 1, 2010, 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Donald Verschelde called the regular city council meeting to order.

Council members present were Eric Dybsetter, Kim Jelen, Darlene Moeller, Donald Verschelde, Judy Verschelde, and Pat Vlaminck.

Also present was Tom Noyes.

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the September 6, 2010 City Council meeting, the October 4, 2010 City Council meeting, and the September 20, 2010 special City Council meeting on the lengthening of Oak Street.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Kim Jelen. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

It was noted that mid-term general elections would be on Tuesday, November 2nd.

Fire department equipment was discussed.  Chief Pat Vlaminck reported that the pump on truck 144 needs major repair, with estimates in the $2000 - $3000 range.  The fire department would like to add a utility vehicle with a skid-mounted tank and pump for fighting grass fires.  A grant has been received to help offset the cost of the pump skid.  The council will expect the fire department to pay the balance of cost out of the fire equipment fund.

Flood damage and possible repairs to the city dike was discussed.  The council will check with Larry Stoks about repair and possible FEMA reimbursement.

Tom Noyes asked the council about reimbursement for equipment used during the flood fighting effort.  The council advised Mr. Noyes to submit a bill to the city, and the city will submit a bill to FEMA for reimbursement.

Darlene Moeller made a motion to pay the bills as read by Judy Verschelde.  Kim Jelen seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Darlene Moeller, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
