Regular City Council Meeting Minutes

City of Porter

Monday, July 5, 2010, 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Donald Verschelde called the regular city council meeting to order.

 

Council members present were Eric Dybsetter, Kim Jelen, Darlene Moeller, Donald Verschelde, and Judy Verschelde.

 

Paul Olson of DSI and Mary Wente were also present.

 

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the June 7, 2010 City Council meeting.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Kim Jelen, seconded by Darlene Moeller. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

Paul Olson of DSI reported on the Small Cities Development Grant that Porter has received in conjunction with Canby.  Interested parties need to send application information back to DSI.

 

Eric Dybsetter made a motion to approve the Grant Administration Service Agreement between Development Services, Inc. and the City of Porter.  Kim Jelen seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed and the motion was carried.

 

The condition of city streets was discussed.  The intersection of Maple Street and Sunrise Avenue has been patched with hot-mix asphalt

 

Resolution 03-2010

 

BE IT RESOLVED that the Porter City Council supports and adopts the Yellow Medicine County All-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

 

A motion was made by Eric Dybsetter to approve Resolution 03-2010.  Darlene Moeller seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

Mary Wente addressed the council to request a lower on-sale liquor license fee.  She also inquired about a ballot measure to allow the Sunday sale of on-sale liquor.

 

The council has received complaints of noxious weeds on the properties of Jerry Peterson at 207 Sunrise Avenue North, and Alan Merritt at 207 Prairie Avenue South.  Eric Dybsetter will send out warning letters.

 

The regular meeting of the Porter City Council for the month of September will be held on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 6:30 pm due to the Labor Day holiday.

 

Kim Jelen made a motion to pay the bills as read by Judy Verschelde.  Darlene Moeller seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.

 

A motion was made by Darlene Moeller, seconded by Kim Jelen, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
